UpRiver is excited to announce that we will be hosting Run Camps throughout September and into October. We are proud to announce that the Camps will be sponsored by local Bike, board and Ski shop Rollin Thunder, Marostica Subaru, our favourite and trusted local Subaru dealer, our favourite anti chafe, Squirrel's Nut Butter Canada and the no bounce hydration packs Orange Mud Canada . Both of these brands are distributed by a local company out of Thunder Bay. Everyone in attendance will get some Squirrel’s Nut Butter to try, we will have weekly giveaways of Squirrel’s Nut Butter and gift cards for Orange Mud Hydration Products. We will also have some Orange Mud demo packs on hand for people to try out. Want to buy an Orange Mud pack? We have a discount code for you ;)

What’s an UpRiver Run Camp? We’re glad you asked.

Run Camp is a coming together of like minded people to learn, share and enjoy trail running. We will come together over 4 Sundays and 1 Saturday, and running in 5 unique locations across Thunder Bay. Prior to each run, participants will join UpRiver Running for a live virtual info session.

We will share knowledge on an assortment of trail running topics like:
-
Safe back-country travel (trip planning, gear list, what to bring, animal encounters)
-
What should be in your pack?
-
Trail Running skills / techniques (climbing, descending, navigating technical terrain)
-
Hydration and Fueling
-
Dressing for comfort and safety out on the trails
-
Pacing Strategy (Run, walk, power hiking)
-
Route Planning (how, where, timing, difficulty, weather, navigation)
-
Dealing with adverse conditions (injuries on trail, getting lost, weather changes, risk assessment, mental lows)
-
Running with awareness (noticing your surroundings, being present, enjoying the experience)

We will be offering a small group experience for all abilities. We will have 3 groups, beginner, intermediate, advanced. The total number of registered runners will be capped at 45. Each group will be guided by at least 3 UpRiver Group Leaders.

We will come together at the run location or a pre-organized meeting place and will discuss the learning topics for the day. We will then head out on our run. When relevant, we may make stops during the run to practice the newly learned skills and discuss any questions that may arise from them. Upon completing the run, all groups will come together to share their experiences before heading home to prep for next weeks' run.

We will send out a digital asset with a summary of the week's topics along with any additions we feel we need to make after that week's discussions.

The fee for each camp will be $20 ($100 for all 5 weeks). Those who sign up at the start for all 5 camps will receive a free UpRiver T-shirt (Value $35). Those who sign up at the start for 4 weeks will have the option to purchase an UpRiver T-Shirt for $25.

We are super excited about the UpRiver Run Camps, and hope you will be, too. We will have limited spots available and once registration opens they will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

The final UpRiver Run Camp will take place on the date our UpRiver Running Fall Races would have taken place.

We will be conducting COVID19 screening procedures before each run and also encouraging physical distancing at the camps. If people are more comfortable wearing masks we encourage them to do that. Currently, wearing masks is not mandatory when operating in an outdoor setting.

Registration for each event is done separately.
