Race Details

​

The UpRiver Running Fall Races hold a special place in our heart. This community event celebrates our love for the sport and unites participants from all walks of life with varying goals and experiences. The 10Km, 25Km, and 50Km distances offer something for everyone. Although youth have an option to register in any of the races, 17 & under youth and children have an option to register for the Kids Trail Run which is a 2.5Km of fun trails.

 

Most of the course takes place on single track through some of our favourite trails in Thunder Bay. Participants will receive a finisher medal and the first finisher from each age division in the 10K, 25K & 50K events  will receive an award.

Registration is on Ultrasignup.

2026:

- This will be a chip-timed event

All Race Courses will start and end at Kinsmen Park (Trowbridge).

- Participants will receive a finisher medal and the first finisher from each age division (39 & under, 40+ Masters and 50+ Grand Masters) in the 10K, 25K & 50K events  will receive an award.

- Free Shuttle to and from the race (Current River Community Centre: 450 Dewe Ave, Thunder Bay)
- Race Entries are non-refundable

- Optional T-shirt and vegan-friendly burritos are available for an extra fee under ultrasignup "STORE" tab (order by September 20th, 2026
- This will be a cupless event, please bring a reusable cup/water bottle/hydration bladder
- Free Vegan friendly Chili for ALL race participants

- Here is what you can expect to find:

Balsam Aid Station: Water, Tailwind drink mix, gummies

Cascades Aid Station: Water, Tailwind, chips, bananas, oranges, fruit gummies, coke, and Precision Fuel gels & salt capsules

Kinsmen Aid Station: Water, Tailwind, chips, bananas, oranges, PB and J wraps, fruit gummies, Precision Fuel gels & salt capsules, Coke, Coffee


- The 50K event will have a 9hr cutoff including:

1st cutoff: 11:30am cutoff @ Kinsmen Park - 1/2 way point (25Km)
2nd cutoff: 12:40pm cutoff @ Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 31.2 Km)
3rd cutoff: 1:50pm cutoff @ Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 38.2 Km)
Finish Cutoff: 4pm cutoff @ Kinsmen Park
- Race bibs are transferable until the registration deadline (Sunday, September 20th,11:59pm)
-  17 and under participants can register in any distance for $40.

- Kids Trail Run includes a finisher medal

- Early bird pricing is valid until June 30th. Standard entry fees valid until August 25th. Late entree fees from August 26th - deadline

10Km: COURSE MAP

​

The 10K event will be a single loop course that heads from Kinsmen Park into Shuniah Mines and back.

​25Km: COURSE MAP (50Km complete this twice)

​

The course for the 25K has been revised, but will be 1 loop (with two sections of out-back) of mostly single-track with some double track. It will take runners through the Shuniah mines trails, Cascades Conservation Area, Centennial park and some on Trowbridge Park trails. Runners will receive aid if needed and head on back. The 25K Course will have about 370m / 1200ft of climbing.

 

Runners will have access to an aid station at the Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 7.3 Km mark) as well as a second aid station at Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 14.3 Km)

The 50K runners will complete two 25K loops.

​50Km: COURSE MAP

​

The 50Km course will follow the same route as the 25Km course, but will be completed twice. Do not let the elevation fool you. This is a technical course with plenty of rolling terrain. 

​

Runners will have access to a total of 5 aid stations:

1) Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 7.3 Km)

2) Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 14.3 Km)

3) Kinsmen Park - 1/2 way point (25Km)

4) Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 31.2 Km)

5) Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 38.2 Km)

2.5Km Kids Trail Run: COURSE MAP

​

The 2.5Km Kids Trail Run will include the Prospector Skills Trail, and a shorter loop run on the Yellow Trail and Red Trail.  Parents will be allowed to follow their children on the course, if they wish. Their contact information will be collected at check-in.
