Whether you're a beginner or experienced runner, our 10-week training group is tailored to individuals interested in improving their fitness and taking their running to the next level.

Our Training Group is open to anyone of any ability who wants to improve their fitness heading into the spring and summer season. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or new to the sport, if you are looking to improve, this group is for you. 


Whatever you are training for: the 10mile road race, the Superior Spring Trail races, Grandmas Marathon, or just to become a more competent runner, this group will help you achieve your goals. 

Duration: 10 weeks

Dates:  March 22nd to May 28th, 2022

Days and Times: Tuesday (5:30pm – 6:30pm), Thursday (5:30pm – 6:30pm), and Saturday (10am – 11:30am)

Locations: Tuesday and Thursday at Boulevard Lake, Main Parking Lot (meet by the play structure).  We will run on the bike path around Boulevard Lake until the LPH trails become runnable.  Saturday from the Centennial Park Parking Lot and running longer into the Centennial, Shuniah Mines, and the Cascades trail systems.


$125 (HST incl.) for early bird registration

$135 (HST incl.) for registrations starting March 8th.

*Group rates are fixed and not pro-rated to a later start date.


What you get: For just over $4/workout, you'll have access to 30 tailored in-person training sessions + an UpRiver Running technical training shirt.  This is an insured training group.  All members must sign a waiver form to participate.

I am excited to be partnering with UpRiver Running as they expand their services to provide this training group.  Running has been an obsession of mine for as long as I can remember both as an athlete and a coach.  Some of my fondest memories and best friends have come from my time in the sport and I am happy to be able to pass some of what I have learned to you.

While I have competed and coached at times at a higher level, I have always been more interested in how running provides opportunities for challenge, growth, and self-discovery than about winning.  Getting better as a runner is hard work and at times can be a grind but it can also be a lot of fun and incredibly satisfying.  I love helping athletes accomplish things that they had previously believed to be impossible for them, whether that is completing their first race, improving their personal best, or exploring their ultimate running potential.

I hope that we can learn from each other, embrace the challenges that running brings, and improve, all while sharing some laughs along the way. 

Kip has been a friend and mentor over the years and we're so excited for his addition to our team.

You may know him best from his terrible dad jokes, but he also happens to have an extensive history in the sport:

  • National Coaching Certification Program Performance Coach (old level 3) - Distance Running

  • Lakehead University Head Coach for Cross Country Running and Indoor Track (2005 - 2020)

  • Olympic Trials top 10 placing as an athlete (800m)

  • Over 20 years of coaching athletes at all levels from elementary school to Masters (over 40)

  • Proud father of Violet and Aja.
